Impact by Design, Harvard Graduate School of Education
Working through a sequence of deliverables to learn and apply a process for intentional design for impact.
The Problem
For decades, there's been a substantial gap between younger and older voters. Young people don't vote to the same extent as other age demographics. When young people abstain from voting, their perspectives and needs are inadequately represented in policy-making, perpetuating a cycle of disengagement where the issues of importance to younger citizens remain overlooked.
How Might We ...
Develop a sense of political empowerment among first-time young adult voters to shift the needle from belief to action?
Theory of Action
If first-time 18-24 year-old voters can clearly see the tangible impacts of what would happen if they abstain from voting,
Then they would start to believe that their vote is worth it,
So they feel empowered to vote in the federal election.
